LeMieux 2nd, Veeser 4th in State Wrestling

Two Door County girls wrestlers made the podium at last week’s WIAA individual state wrestling tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol sophomore Tiani LeMieux placed second at 138 pounds.
LeMieux won her first three matches on pins against Brynn Ellison of Clear Lake, Natalia Poplawski of New Berlin West/Eisenhower and Hailey Berg of Bonduel, before losing the title match on a pin by Badger’s Carley Ceshker.
She finished the season with an overall record of 36-6.
Southern Door senior Hailey Veeser finished fourth at 152 pounds.
Veeser won her first two matches, pinning Hannah Behrndt of Hamilton and then recording a 6-3 decision over Madi Zube of Viroqua.
She lost her semifinal match on an 11-2 major decision to Kara Kuge of Lomira, before winning her consolation semifinal on a 6-2 decision against Lexi Mentink of Shoreland Lutheran and then losing the match for third place on a 7-6 decision to Britney Petsche of River Ridge.
Veeser ended the season 33-7 overall.
