Letter to the Editor: Christian Nation?

A few weeks ago in an editorial there was a discussion about using the Bible vs. the Constitution in the swearing in of the president. Both gave reasons for which was better. One person stated that “officially, legally and constitutionally we are a Christian nation, and it even says that on our money.” So my question is, would a Christian nation shut their door on people in need because of a fear of what might happen? The great leaders of all religions walked among the people with love, compassion and non-judgment, they stood up against fear and hate.

As we see our nation turning refugees, women, children and families away, one has to wonder how Christian are we? Are we that afraid that inhumanity toward our fellow man is now our battle cry? In the famous words of FDR, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
