Letter to the Editor: Hoping Cooperation Will Continue

Last Saturday, May 7, NWTC and Liberty Grove held a joint open house at Liberty Grove Town Hall. As residents of Liberty Grove, we would like to thank all the NWTC and Liberty Grove staff who made the open house such a success.

The open house was a very interesting and enjoyable event. On the Liberty Grove side, it featured several of the many Liberty Grove food entrepreneurs growing businesses in our community. On the NWTC side, the open house included educational exhibits in the areas of health, safety, technology, broadcast communications and manufacturing among others. The NWTC staff enthusiastically shared their knowledge and information about their programs with visitors one-on-one. Two NWTC manufacturing technology mobile classrooms could be toured. We were very impressed by the knowledge, friendliness and enthusiasm of every one of the NWTC staff at the open house.

Our community is extremely fortunate to have so many talented people as resources. We hope that the cooperative effort that resulted in Saturday’s open house will continue and lead to a permanent presence for NWTC in Northern Door. (For those people who didn’t get to attend the open house and share opinions there, an online survey is available to submit input at nwtc.edu/NorthernDoorSurvey) The opportunities for Northern Door programs that support employee training or apprenticeships for local businesses, assist entrepreneurs to create new businesses, provide complementary or advanced classes for high schoolers and other young people, offer lifelong learning adult classes, and support other community enrichment are wide open.
