Letter to the Editor: Trumpism

Trumpism: a term soon to be added to the Webster Dictionary. This term will be defined as follows: a derogatory or hateful term, phrase or gesture; explicitly racial, ethnic, religious or sexual in content; intended to insult or defame, and always used out of context of the discussion. The term Trumpism replaces the terms “dog whistle” and “code,” which have historically been used by Republican politicians or supporters, always with the same hateful intent as Trumpism, but usually more nuanced and acceptable in polite company.
