Letter to the Editor: Before Parking, Please Ask

Back in March of 2014, The Holiday Music Motel purchased the old Portside building that encompasses the lot between 1st and 2nd Avenues bordered by Louisiana on one side and The Holiday on the other. When the parking lot across the street at Stone Harbor fills up, the natural inclination has been for people to park in the gravel lot entering off of 1st Ave and the blacktop area along Louisiana though there is a free public parking structure directly across the street on Louisiana that rarely fills up.

Wanting to be good neighbors, we have been happy to share the space for parking but all too frequently it has proven to be problematic and so we posted signs indicating that the lot is for registered Holiday Music Motel guests and Tambourine Collaboratory renters only. Though the sign indicates that unregistered vehicles will be towed, people are still parking in our lot oftentimes blocking garage doors, entryways, stairs, etc. creating a situation at times where our own guests have trouble finding parking – whether it’s for their car, boat, trailer, RV, bus, etc. – and our Tambourine tenants are unable to easily get to and from the work spaces they are renting in the building.

We regret to announce that starting June 1st, we will begin enforcing towing of unregistered vehicles.

If you’d like to park in our lot, all we ask is that you register your car with us first. You can do this by stopping by The Holiday Music Motel or calling 920.743.5571 anytime between 10 am and 10 pm. (Special note: we will not be able to share our lot at all during the week of Steel Bridge Songfest, June 5 – 12, as we will need all available space for the festival.)

We want to be good neighbors and we want to share. Please just ask first.
