Letter to the Editor: Grateful Giving

It is with great humility and gratitude that I write this letter extolling the virtues of United Way. For many years as coordinator of the Ministry Dental Clinic, we were on the receiving end of help from the United Way Grant Fund. This helped us to grow and treat many children and community members. Andy Boettcher and I worked long hours in preparing the grant application.

This spring Amy Kohnle, Executive Director of United Way asked me to be on the Community Investment Committee. This seemed perfect after my retirement.

Having been on both sides I felt I knew the needs of Door County. This was truly an enlightening journey working with other members of the committee. Reams of paper to read through, talk about, ask many, many questions and finally make tough decisions: a great two months and it was seriously mindboggling with the need.

It is with your generous gifts, we can all make a difference in our community. Be confident in your giving: Live United, Give, Advocate, Volunteer.
