Letter to the Editor: Thanks for Supporting Salvation Army

The 2016 Salvation Army red kettle campaign in Door County has once again drawn to a successful close, due to incredible local community support. There are so many to thank for their compassionate contributions to this project. Tom Mulinix – who sets up all the equipment and picks up the money, the store managers at Econo Foods, Main Street Market, Pick ’N Save, Tractor Supply, Walgreens and Walmart – for welcoming ringers at their doors, several folks that organized ringers from within their church, real estate organization, Masons and veterans, and the many, many ringers who volunteered their time to ring the bell. It has been an especially rewarding time for me as well, since many new ringers joined the cause and many volunteered to ring in multiple slots.

Funds raised in Door County stay right here, assisting our neighbors in need with critical issues such as rent, food, fuel and utilities. One special project also provides gym shoes for disadvantaged children returning to school in the fall.

Continuing financial support is critical. If you would like to support The Salvation Army in Door County with a donation – please send to Tom Mulinix in care of The Salvation Army, 509 W. Walnut Drive, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. If you would like to ring the bell next fall, please contact me at [email protected] or 920.883.7886.

My sincere thanks to everyone for supporting this very worthwhile project! New Year’s blessings to all!
