Linden and Barnsite Galleries Team Up

Scott Tallman Powers painting at Xizhou market.

Scott Tallman Powers and 22 oil painters from the U.S. recently painted for three weeks in Southwestern China. The trip, which was organized in cooperation between the Barnsite Gallery in Kewaunee and the Linden Gallery in Ellison Bay, provided these painters with the opportunity to surround themselves with the rich cultural traditions of the region.

Powers will be featured in a one-person exhibition scheduled to open on Saturday, May 24 with a reception from 4 – 6 pm at the Linden Gallery. The exhibit will also be shown at the Barnsite Gallery. The work exhibited by Powers will be painted from life, and he anticipates having at least ten works ready for the exhibit. The center point of the exhibit is his 50” by 60” master work entitled “Old Soldier in a New World.” All of Powers’ work will be shown and for sale on the Web sites of the two galleries.

Powers is a BFA graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago and spent many years as an illustrator in a Chicago ad agency before pursuing his dream of becoming a full-time fine artist. He is a board member and signature member of the Oil Painters of America, member of The Portrait Society of America, as well as The American Society of Portrait Artists.

Both Barnsite Gallery and Linden Gallery have an educational component to their business. The Lindens opened their restored Linden Centre in the centuries old Village of Xizhou in March 2008, while Barnsite established the Kewaunee Academy of Fine Art in 2005 with an academic curriculum designed for painters who want a career in painting Representational art.
