Linden and Barnsite Gallery to Host Benefit for China’s Earthquake Victims

On August 8 and 9, the Linden Gallery in Ellison Bay and Barnsite Gallery in Kewaunee will host a silent Art Auction to benefit the victims of the massive May earthquake in Sichuan, China. The earthquake was centered 350 miles north of the Lindens’ China Centre and both the Lindens’ and the Bells’ of the Barnsite Gallery have been monitoring rescue and renovation efforts in the region.

“Our extended Chinese network has been keeping us informed of the needs of the Sichuan families,” said Jeanee Linden. “We have been received with incredible hospitality throughout our nearly three decades in China. This is, hopefully, a small way of giving back.”

Over fifty pieces of art have been contributed by artists from the US, China, and Japan. All proceeds will go to handpicked charity groups. One Chinese artist who has recently returned from the quake area will be on hand to discuss the rescue efforts.

The works of art will be on display at Linden Gallery in Ellison Bay from Friday afternoon, August 8 and bidding will continue until Saturday, August 9 at 3 pm. A special reception with artists from UW-Madison, music and refreshments will be held on Friday, August 8, from 3 – 6 pm. (the opening day of the Beijing Olympics).
