Lost Moth Gallery Announces New Works by Maureen McGrath

Maureen McGrath of Baileys Harbor has added new sculptures to her Raku collection of seated figures at Lost Moth Gallery.

Favoring the human form, many of McGrath’s new figures are abstract wall hangings. McGrath has pit-fired these pieces, resulting in a glowing, earthy finish that completes the lovely forms created from sheets of clay.

McGrath was an antique dealer for 28 years and became a personal property appraiser. In order to have a better understanding of the art she was appraising, she took up art classes in various media.

In 2004 she settled into sculpture classes finding them most exciting of the disciplines and has enjoyed working in clay and figurative studies since. McGrath has taken courses through the Kewaunee Academy of Fine Art, Peninsula School of Art, and studied independently at Art Academy of San Diego.

Lost Moth Gallery also houses paintings by resident artist Jeanne Kuhns and Sturgeon Bay artist Stacia Dick Schuster.

Lost Moth Gallery is located south of Carlsville, one mile east of Highway 42 at 5199 Townline Road, where it intersects with Mathey. The gallery is open Thursdays through Sundays from 10 am – 5 pm or by appointment. For more information call 920.495.2928 or visit http://www.jeannekuhns.com.
