Magill Weber Featured at Book and Author Event

The Friends of Door County Libraries will host a Book and Author event on May 20 at 1 pm at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. The event features Magill Weber, author of Door County Outdoors, A Guide to the Best Hiking, Biking, Paddling, Beaches, and Natural Places published by University of Wisconsin Press.

A thorough and handy reference for all nature lovers and sport folk, Door County Outdoors features more than 150 spots for hiking, biking and kayaking; as well as beaches from Southern Door to Washington and Rock Islands. The entries also note the plant and wildlife typical at each location. Weber will talk about her exhaustive research and offer a Power Point presentation highlighting her favorites. Janet Mrazek who contributed more than 100 detailed directional maps will join her presentation.

Weber, who grew up in Wisconsin, has spent extensive time in Door County hiking, biking, sailing, kayaking, and birding. She is the current project director for The Nature Conservancy in California.

This event is sponsored by The Ridges Sanctuary in conjunction with its annual Festival of Nature, which takes place that weekend. Weber will be one of 50 volunteers leading hikes and field trips during the festival.

Admission is free; and non-perishable donations for Feed My People are appreciated. Novel Ideas of Baileys Harbor will have copies of Weber’s book available for sale/signing.
