More Holiday Events for December

A Christmas Past At Big Creek

Dec. 15-16, 22-23, 29-30

The Door County Historical Society hosts its inaugural event, A Glimpse of Christmas Past, at Heritage Village at Big Creek throughout the month of December. This holiday celebration invites the community to step back in time and experience the rich history and festive traditions of Door County. Heritage Village has been transformed into a winter wonderland with each building adorned in historically-appropriate holiday decor that captures the spirit of 19th century Christmas. The public is invited to visit every Friday and Saturday evening during the month of December from 4-7 pm.

A friendly decorating competition with local non-profits allows visitors to vote for their favorite building by making a donation. All proceeds from these donations will be shared among the participating organizations: Sturgeon Bay Historical Society (Heritage Chapel), Sunshine Resources (Vignes Schoolhouse), YMCA of Door County (The Greene Store), Operation Not Alone (Schopf House), and Crossroads at Big Creek (Warren House).

Hot chocolate will be available for purchase and local singing groups will serenade visitors with classic carols. There is no admission fee.

Heritage Village at Big Creek is located at 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay.
