More Than Quilts

Chris Steinhagen will demonstrate her broom crafting skills at the Amish Quilt and Craft Show, July 9 – 12, at Mr. G’s Hall.

The upcoming Amish Quilt and Craft Show will be held at Mr. G’s Hall on Highway 57 just south of Jacksonport from 9 am to 5 pm, July 9 – 12. More than 100 Amish-made quilts will be featured in a variety of styles, patterns and colors.

The following items will also be available: throw pillow covers, table runners, placemats, pot holders, table centers, quillows, spice mats, rugs, Amish dolls, handcrafted holiday décor, Cashew Crunch, Amish noodles, Yoder popcorn and fabric.

The show features several local artists demonstrating their work. Handmade brooms by Chris Steinhagen will be created at the show and for sale. Jo Brinkley-Chaudoir will show guests how she weaves wire around stones and beads to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Sandra L. Peterson will create collages using handmade papers and found images inspired by pictorial quilts. June Grutza will demonstrate her fine art of glass painting on Saturday and Sunday. Also, a new video about the life of the Amish will run during the show.

An entry fee of $1 will be charged at the door. Children age 8 and under are admitted free but must be attended by an adult at all times. All adults are welcome to sign up for a door prize drawing for two $50 gift certificates for Jacksonport Craft Cottage Gifts or at future Amish Quilt and Craft Shows.
