Motquin, Englebert First at Rocket Scramble

Southern Door’s wrestlers placed fourth out of 15 teams competing at Saturday’s Rocket Scramble hosted by Cedar Grove-Belgium High School.

“Considering we came in short-handed again, filling only nine of 14 weight classes, I felt we wrestled very well,” said Eagles head coach Jerry Englebert. 

Two of Southern Door’s wrestlers, Mason Motquin (132) and Trevor Englebert (144), won their weight classes after both finishing the tournament 5-0. Trevor Englebert won his final three matches on pins.

The Eagles’ Trevin Veeser (157) placed third with a 3-2 record.

Southern Door’s Nora LeFevre (113), Spencer Slezewski (138), Lance Veeser (150) and Colton Krueger (285) were all 4-1 on the day and placed fifth. Those wrestlers each lost their second-round matches to put them in the consolation bracket, where they won the rest of their matches.
