Mow, Mow, Mow Your Grass!

Sister Bay has never looked as beautiful as it does this year.

Store and restaurant owners have really outdone themselves, planting flowers that have been constant bloomers. Village-owned areas have been planted in grand style, the village maintenance workers have diligently mowed, pruned and pulled weeds to keep every flowerbed looking perfect.

To have and show pride in a place, whether a business, park or private home is topnotch in my thinking and doing. I’d never neglect what I own, have people wonder at my work ethics or any indifference I might feel.

Look at that poorly maintained lot across from our new Wild Tomato. Does anyone besides myself wonder why an owner would not cut that horrible growth of grass and weeds, make it look at least presentable to the folks who live in Sister Bay, to all the visitors we host on a daily basis?

There are several lawn care companies in northern Door County. Could the village crew cut it and the owner pay the village for the job?

This is the second year in a row I have written about that lot and its lack of care. Once last year I even confronted the owner.

What’s so difficult to understand? Blights can be removed, repaired. Pride can be developed.

Come on, lot owner, do the good deed and mow, mow your grass.
