Music, Words and Almost-Free-Beer

The Patience Band of Minneapolis will perform at a Sept. 12 fundraiser for two well-known local nonprofits, Write On, Door County and Door County Secret Santa. Scheduled for 7:30 pm in the Sister Bay Village Hall, the Music, Words and Almost-Free-Beer Fundraiser features music by The Patience Band and a spoken-word performance by Max Garland, the former Wisconsin poet laureate. The event will also offer two free “Writer’s Bock” beers (aka Door County Brewing Company’s Polka King Porter) to over-21 attendees. A small donation of $10 will be collected at the door.

Patience Band members Tom Kraack and John Sakowski performed at Brew Coffeehouse this past summer to raise funds for Door County Secret Santa. The Patience Band performs rock, acoustic and blues cover songs from the 1980s to the present.

Write On, Door County began its dream of inspiring people to write and share their stories in 2013. Since that time thousands of individuals from kindergarten to 90-years-young have attended workshops, readings and creative collaborative programming from Southern Door to Washington Island.

Door County Secret Santa helps Northern Door families with home heating costs, whether propane, oil, electric or wood. In the past year, through the generosity of people attending music benefits in Door County, more than 50 local families received the gift of care and warmth.
