Neighbor to Neighbor’s Ann Bennett Wins In Cahoots Award

Ann Bennett, executive director of Neighbor to Neighbor Volunteer Caregivers of Door County, was awarded the In Cahoots Award during the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging’s STAR Awards on June 15.

Pam Busch, mobility manager at Door-Tran, nominated Bennett for her work serving Door County residents through collaboration with other organizations, such as the Washington Island Community Health Program to serve Island residents through the medical equipment loan and peer companion/respite care programs, as well as for her efforts working with others to raise local awareness of dementia and to make Door County a dementia-friendly community. Bennett stated when accepting her award, “The best part about working in Door County, in addition to serving the people of Door County, is the mindset of collaboration evident among local nonprofit organizations, businesses, and churches, all working together to meet the needs of the community. Where I work, it is easy to be ‘In Cahoots.’”

Bennett is the only employee at Neighbor to Neighbor. Working together with 112 volunteers and through collaboration with other local organizations, businesses, and churches, 1278 individuals benefitted from services provided by Neighbor to Neighbor in 2015.
