New Classes at The Clearing

Students from The Clearing

The Clearing Folk School’s Winter Program classes continue with one-day class openings the last week of January and more than 31 new classes starting in February. Join neighbors in snowshoeing protected lands, painting in watercolor, learn more about conservationists Rachel Carson and Jens Jensen through film, create a decorative gourd or weave a basket, plan your financial legacy, discuss women’s history in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, or energy planning and how the electric system works. Dr. Roger Kuhns also returns to discuss Food & Water in a Climate Changing World and teaching more about the Niagara Escarpment. Classes continue to be offered and taught by volunteer instructors who generously share their time, along with their considerable talent, with the community.

Class details and descriptions are published online at theclearing.org. Catalogs are also available at the Jens Jensen Visitor Center, 12171 Garrett Bay Road, Ellison Bay, during regular business hours, Monday-Friday from 8 am-4 pm, or at select racks at area businesses. Registrations are accepted in person, via mail, fax or phone and classes are filled on a first-come, first-registered basis, as space permits.
