New Poetry Book Chronicles Parkinson’s Journey

Lee LeVoy of Ellison Bay was already writing poetry when her husband, Hugh, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. It was natural, then, that poems became LeVoy’s mode of expression through the course of her husband’s illness, and her second poetry collection focuses on this journey. Sacred Moments: One Couple’s Walk with Parkinson’s was recently released through Sand Beach Press, a Baileys Harbor publisher.

LeVoy’s poems are personal – a clear, authentic chronicle of the varied emotions that accompany disease and her caregiving experiences as she and her husband navigate change – but her words are sure to resonate with anyone who has experienced caregiving, illness or loss

In discussing this collection, LeVoy said, “There were challenges, changes, stumbles and loss. There were tender moments, too. Writing these poems gave a voice to my feelings, fears, questions and gratitude.”

The poet will read from her collection and sign copies of her book during a release event Aug. 25, 4 pm, at Write On, Door County. Sacred Moments is available for purchase from the author by email at [email protected] or at sandbeachpress.com.
