Newquist’s Work Featured at Ladybug Glass

Throughout May, Ladybug Glass Studio & Gallery will feature a retrospective of Karen Newquist’s paintings titled Wisconsin Landscapes. Newquist is a longtime artist who has delved into many types of media, including painting and ceramics.

The paintings in this exhibit are primarily of local barns – with farm fields captured during the fall and winter interspersed – and even with snow and gray skies, the paintings have a warm, comfortable feeling.

The gallery will host an opening reception during the monthly First Friday in Algoma event May 6, 5-8 pm, with Newquist in attendance to discuss her work.

Ladybug Glass (ladybugstudiogallery.com), 219 Steele St. in Algoma, is primarily a stained- and fused-glass and photography gallery that hosts guest artists spring through fall and features work by local artists. Kimberly Lyon’s glass and photography, Wild Prairie Silver jewelry, Beverly Jane Design textiles, and astrophotography by John Lyon, Rodrigo Roesch and Tony Kroes are exhibited year-round.
