NWTC Launches Culinary Specialist Diploma

In response to increased demand for training and assistance in the food service industry, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) is set to launch the Culinary Specialist technical diploma in the spring 2017 semester.

“NWTC is really excited about starting the culinary specialist technical diploma program. The hospitality team is confident this program will expand the knowledge and future of culinary arts in northeast Wisconsin,” said NWTC Associate Dean of Business, Information and Technology Mike Vander Heiden.

The Culinary Specialist technical diploma is designed for those who have a passion for cooking or those who dream of owning a restaurant. The program will be located in a new classroom kitchen in the Student Center on the Green Bay Campus.

“NWTC has received a lot of questions about community involvement. I do see a future with our students catering, selling and donating food in the community as well as a great opportunity to partner with area restaurants for career experiences including internships or apprenticeships,” said Hospitality Program Coordinator Lisa Hickman.

Students who graduate from the 31-credit program will be prepared for employment in different areas of food production including: Sous Chef, Banquet Chef, Pastry Chef, Restaurant Owner or Manager or Personal Chef.
