Obituary: Adeline K. Engdahl

March 6, 1922 ~ January 26, 2023

Adeline died thirty-nine days shy of age 101.  She was a longtime resident of Homewood, IL, but was grateful to have spent her last seven years in the beauty of Door County, WI with her family.  Beloved wife of the late Jack Engdahl; loving mother of Catherine (Jack) Keller and cherished grandmother of Christina Deal (fiancé Matt Proctor); dear sister of the late Leslie Kalmanek, late Joseph (late Emily) Kalmanek, late Lydia (William King) Murphy, late Helen (late Norman) Schluep, late Margaret Kalmanek, and John (late Dorothy) Kalmanek; and loving aunt of numerous nieces and nephews.

Adeline was an active and devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church (now St. John Neumann) for over 55 years. She devoted her time to numerous causes including: Meals on Wheels, Ministry of Care, Resurrection Choir, Pro-Life Ministry, Our Lady’s Prayer Group and the Sanctuary Guild.  As a former nurse, her happiest days were spent helping or caring for others.  Especially her one and only grandchild, Christina.

Visitation, Monday, January 30, 2023, from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. at St. John Neuman Catholic Church, 17951 Dixie Highway, Homewood, IL 60430.  Interment at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Orland Park, IL.  Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

In keeping with Adeline’s spirit of giving to others, in lieu of flowers, she would be most appreciative of donations to: The Pete and Jelaine Horton Center Skilled Nursing Facility, Sturgeon Bay, WI, or St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Homewood, IL.
