Obituary: Cindi Hembel Pollock

Cindi Hembel Pollock, 62, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, died Dec. 20 in Bly, Ore. She was born in Sturgeon Bay on Dec. 2, 1953, to Virginia “Ginny” and Lloyd “Bud” Hembel.

Cindi graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1972, attended UW-Oshkosh, and moved to Menlo Park, Calif. There she met and married Walter Pollock and kept a houseful of well-loved dogs and a house rabbit. When Walt “retired,” they moved to Bly, where she tended cattle and learned to do everything that needed doing on a ranch. Cindi became deeply involved in the community, volunteering at the local medical center and wherever else she could help.

Cindi is survived by her husband, Walt, of Bly, stepchildren Wes Pollock of Oceanside, Calif., Nikki Halsey of Las Vegas, Nev., Lloyd Pollock of Pacifica, Calif., and Vanessa Guy and Gilbert Pollock of Pahala, Hawaii; cousins Dan (Jean) Austad, Sue Austad, Matt Austad, and TJ, Christian and Jay (Sarah Meredith) Livingston, of Sturgeon Bay; Jan Livingston (Al Curtis) of Cornelius, N.C., and John Austad of Sun Prairie; lifelong dear friend, Judy Ebel Schumacher of Sturgeon Bay, and good friend and confidant, Judy Wharton, of Bly, who supported her so much during her illness.

Preceding her in death were her mother, father and cousin Tom Austad of Sturgeon Bay who, we’re sure, were waiting to welcome her to her next adventure.

At Cindi’s request, there will be no funeral services. Family and friends will gather later to celebrate her life. In lieu of memorials, please send love or donations to the charity of your choice.
