Obituary: Duane “Corky” Corbisier

January 9, 1942 ~ March 20, 2023

Duane “Corky” Corbisier, 81, of Brussels, died with his family by his side on March 20, 2023, at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay.  He was born Jan. 9, 1942 in Little Sturgeon to Sidney and Irene (Gleasner) Corbisier.  On Feb. 14, 1970, he married Susan Neinas at Salem Lutheran Church.

Corky owned and operated a dairy farm in the Brussels area for many years.  He later worked for Wortiska Plumbing for eight years until he retired to his lawn mower, garden, and fishing every chance he got.  As an avid fisherman, the perch in Little Sturgeon are now breathing a collective sigh of relief.

Corky was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church and was a long time and active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Kolberg where he served as council president for numerous years.  He enjoyed hunting, especially turkey hunting and was a past president of the Door County Fish and Game Club.  He enjoyed visiting with others and was a great storyteller. Corky was a baseball fanatic, playing and following baseball all his life.  As an accomplished player and because of his passion for the game, he was named to the Door County Baseball League Hall of Fame in 2008.

He is survived  by his wife of 53 years Susie, 6 children and their families: Dawn Corbisier and her children, Vern (Jenny) Konrad, Kelsey Konrad (Alex Byrne), and Kyle Konrad; Scott Corbisier and his children, Andrew and Nicki Corbisier; Christopher (Donna) Corbisier; Theresa (Dan) Rass and their children, Erin (Christopher) Borgmann, Calyn (Neil) Saindon, Hana (Nick) Dumas; Corey Corbisier (Kim Chipolone), and his children, Tyler Doemel and Alayna Corbisier; Jaime Corbisier-Forest (Mike Mesic) and her children, Gavin Forest and Gillian Forest; great-grandchildren: Stella, Kieran, Jack, Atlas, Cedar, Emma, J.D., Henry, Effie, Harrison, Harvey, Grace, and Randon; sister Karen (Milton) Lenius, brother-in-law Earl (Ruth) Neinas, sister-in-law Carol Mueller; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Pam Corbisier, brother Sheldon Corbisier, sister Arlene Samuelson, brother-in-law, Orville Mueller and niece Patti Lenius.

Funeral services will be 12:30 pm on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Kolberg with burial in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for a remembrance of Corky at Carmody Park.
