Obituary: James A. Nevins

James A. Nevins was born in Milwaukee June 19, 1934 and died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at his home in Sturgeon Bay with family and friends at his side.

James wrote his own obituary:

“Over the years, my wife Carole asked me what my wishes were whenever I would pass away. I finally told her, ‘I don’t care, just make it cheap.’

I grew up in Milwaukee and joined the Air Force after I finished high school. I graduated from the University of Florida and spent most of my working career in Southern California with the Aerospace industry.

My hobbies were hiking, biking and traveling especially to Germany. My other interests also included reading, opera, classical music, fine wine and most of all my cats.

Carole and I made our move from Los Angeles in 1999.

I’m survived by my wife of 26 years, Carole; my sister, Frances (Dennis) Schiefelbein, of Pembine, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews. I’m also survived by my sister-in-law, Cathy Besing of Cleveland, Tennessee; step-son, James Lottes of Sturgeon Bay; and step-grandson, Skyler Quade of Dubuque, Iowa.

A special acknowledgement is given to James Gonzales, who has been with me throughout this long journey the past 10 years.

I was preceded in death by my parents, James and Theon Nevins; my sister, Patricia Kimble; my brother, Michael Nevins; and my brother-in-law, Dr. John W. Besing.

As per my request, there will be no public service.”
