Obituary: Jane Leanne Kerscher

Jane Leanne Kerscher, 80, of Sturgeon Bay died June 5, 2017.  She was born on August 17, 1936, in Door County to Howard and Sylvia (Hembel) Kolstad.

After high school, Jane earned a bachelor’s degree in education at UW Stevens Point and taught kindergarten through 8th grade at Carnot School for about 11 years.  On July 2, 1960, she married Roger J. Kerscher at Forest Lutheran Church.

Jane was long time and very active member of Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.  She was also a member and past president of the Ladies Aid Group.

Jane will always be remembered as a hardworking and caring person who spent many years of her life helping her folks on the family farm and taking care of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, two children, Joni (Gary) Witalison, Fish Creek; Rob (Ilsa) Kerscher, Spring, TX; four grandchildren, Dalton, Travis, Brady, and Allura; one brother, Willy (Fay) Kolstad, Forestville; “like a sister”, Yvonne (Lyle) Erfourth; one brother-in-law, Cyrus Kerscher.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Tom Kolstad.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday June 12, 2017, at Tanum- Forest Lutheran Church with Rev. Peter Mannoja officiating.   Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Forbes Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Monday.  On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com.
