Obituary: Jason Patrick McDonald

Feb. 17, 1990 – May 5, 2023

Jason Patrick McDonald, 33, died unexpectedly. He was born in Wausau, and, in his adult life, moved to Farmington, New Mexico, with his best friend, David “Pyters” Pitts. They were best friends since second grade and inseparable.

Many would say Jason had a huge heart and gave the best hugs. His free time was spent with his dog, Luffy, and Pyters’ dogs, Blue and Giai, whom he kept after Pyters passed away. He also had a special passion for cooking.

Jason was a great son who left us too soon. He was the apple of his mom’s eye, and they shared a special bond. He had a great smile and loving heart and will be missed every day.

Jason leaves behind his mom, Michelle (Paul Weber) McDonald of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; brother Jeffrey Grovogel of Sturgeon Bay; “the apple of HIS eye” niece Kaylee of Kewaunee; grandmother Paulette McDonald of Sturgeon Bay; aunt Renee (Nick Wauters) Walker of Sturgeon Bay; godfather/uncle Patrick Walker of Sturgeon Bay; cousin/sister Katie (Kyle) Walker of Sturgeon Bay; cousin Cassandra (Mike) DeBauche of De Pere; second cousins Harper, Emerson, Lennox and Raelynn; and all his friends and extended family.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandfather Jack McDonald, and his best friend, David “Pyters” Pitts.

A celebration of life will be held June 17 at the Algoma Boat Club, 180 6th St. in Algoma, Wisconsin.
