Obituary: John Garfield Davis

John Garfield Davis, 67, of Chetek Wisconsin, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, passed away April 27, 2018.  John was born in Eau Claire Wisconsin, August 24, 1950 and after graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School, made a name for himself as a tough, headstrong, young man. He was fiercely loyal to friends and loved ones.

A proud Union Boilermaker for 32 years, his work took him from Utah, Wyoming, and Wisconsin, all the way to Guam and Hawaii. Throughout his career he served many roles such as journeyman, union steward, foreman and general foreman. During this time John amassed a large following of colleagues who admired his work ethic and were entranced by harrowing tales of his childhood or off-color humor to brighten their spirits.

After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling the states, visiting friends and family, antique shopping, metal detecting, and stand-up comedy. He will be deeply missed as he made such an impact on everyone he met.

John leaves five children, Jason (Milda) Davis, Jennifer (Steve) Causer, John (Debbie) Davis, James (Erica) Davis, and Joseph (Dessiree) Davis; seven grandchildren, Julia, Rudy, David, Ryleigh, Kai, Lukas, and Hoku; three siblings, Randy (Vicky), Criss, and Cheryl; as well as faithful friends and co-workers across the country. He is preceded in death by his parents, Garfield and Nancy of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
