Obituary: LaVerne M. Cornell

LaVerne M. Cornell, 96, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Golden Living Center-Dorchester.

She was born March 10, 1920 in Sturgeon Bay to Chester and Rose (LaViolette) Jensen. LaVerne graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1938. In 1941, LaVerne married Norbert H. “Jim” Miller in Dubuque, IA. Together they had three daughters, Patricia, Susan and Marilyn. Jim passed away in 1958.

In 1967, LaVerne married Warner H. “Bud” Cornell. He passed away in 1978.

LaVerne enjoyed playing cards, listening to music and playing with her cat, Molly. But to really brighten her day, nothing was better than a visit with her grandchildren or great-grandchildren.

LaVerne is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Lee) Johnson; five grandchildren, James (Martha) Goyette, Gina Goyette, Jeff (Wendy) Miller, Amy (Randy) Dickson, and Tanya (Joe) Weber; and six great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were two of her daughters, Patricia Goyette and Susan Miller.

A private family service and burial will be held at Bayside Cemetery.
