Obituary: Lisa Marie Munao

Jan. 10, 1964 ~ Feb. 3, 2024

Lisa Marie Munao, 60, of Washington Island, died at her home on Saturday evening, Feb. 3, 2024.

She was born Jan. 10, 1964 in Des Plaines, Illinois, the daughter of Clifford and Elaine (Bonk) Schultz. Lisa attended Main North High School through her junior year (until North’s closing) and graduated from Main West High School with the class of 1982, both in Des Plaines. Lisa went on to study Fashion Design at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois for a year.

She first met Andrew Joseph Munao, Jr. at his uncle’s restaurant but didn’t start dating him until later in their mid-20’s. They were united in marriage on July 25, 1992. Lisa and Andy resided together on Washington Island. She worked as Office Administrator for Shipyard Island Marina, Inc.

Lisa’s faith provided a foundation for her life and that of her family’s. Being in her Bible and spending time with God were central in her life. Lisa was a member of Bethel Evangelical Free Church on Washington Island. Her “cup” was filled with the time she gave to her church. Lisa also served for a period of time on the Washington Island School Board. She loved being a mother and grandmother and cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren, whether on the island or the various places they live. Lisa also liked spending time with her sisters and other family. She loved her nightly walks with Andy and their dogs, Samson and Ruby. Lisa collected Polish Pottery and also spent time tending to her gardens around their home. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles. Lisa was passionate about the benefits of holistic and integrative medicine. She always loved Saturday night dinners after church (and any time) at School House Beach and her home.

Lisa’s love will live on in the hearts of her husband, Andy Jr.; children, Rachelle (Brien Jordan) Munao of Washington Island, Roxanne (Billy) Appel of Sister Bay, Pastor Andrew (Lisa) Munao III of Mount Dora, Florida, and Joseph (Summer) Munao of Combined Locks, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Cameron Munao, Cedric, Levi, and Elaine Appel, JJ Munao, Charlie Wacaser, and Everly, Haven, and Nova Munao; sisters, Laura (Jim) Hartnett of Minocqua, Jennifer (Steve) Lefever of New Braunfels, Texas, Jessica (Mike) Munao of Mount Prospect, Illinois, and Leslie Neihengen of Arlington Heights, Illinois, parents-in-law, Andrew Sr. and Bonnie (Semler) Munao of Washington Island; siblings-in-law, Anthony (Vanessa) Munao of Elgin, Illinois, and Janette Munao of Fort Meyers, Florida, and other relatives and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clifford Schultz; brother-in-law, Louis Munao, Sr.; and other relatives.

Lisa’s life will be honored with a funeral service held at 11:30 am on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 at Bethel Evangelical Free Church, 1821 Main Road, Washington Island, with Pastor Rick Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Town of Washington Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 9:30 am until 11:15 am.
