Obituary: Louise Buchholz

Louise Buchholz, a familiar face to visitors of The Clearing for nearly a quarter century, died Saturday, Dec. 12 at the age of 81, the school announced Wednesday.

Louise and Don Buchholz were the resident managers of The Clearing for 24 years, from 1976 through 1999. Many who took classes at The Clearing during those years came to regard them as The Clearing’s “Mom and Dad.” They took care of students and instructors with care, dedication and love.

In an email Wednesday morning, The Clearing wrote that the school “would not be what it is today without Louise and Don. They represented the spirit of The Clearing with kindness and grace.”

Louise died with her husband, Don, and three children, Brian, Kathy and Bruce at her side. Louise was 81.

Louise’s funeral will be at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay on Friday, Dec. 18. Visitation is at 10 am, and the funeral service is at 11 am. Lunch will follow.
