OtherWorlds Books & More Lives Up to Its Name

Margaret and Dave Magle are self-confessed “fantasy geeks,” but that isn’t the reason they named their bookstore OtherWorlds Books & More.
“Reading any book, on almost any subject, transports you from your current reality into a whole new world and reality,” Margaret explained. “So when it came time to name our store, ‘OtherWorlds’ was a natural choice.”
Open since January 2018, it has grown not only in the size of its inventory, but also physically. Now roughly 1,600 square feet, it sells new and used books; works by 12 local artists, including jewelry, photography and painting; 250 magazine titles; puzzles; vinyl albums from Bay Vinyl Records; and comic books.
It also offers Open Game Nights on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 5-8 pm; and hosts a Warhammer Club every other Saturday, 12-4 pm.
“Warhammer is a role-playing game,” Dave said, “and we offer a wide range of Warhammer figurines in a variety of sizes that can be painted for use in the game.”
“Our book inventory is more than just the New York Times’ bestsellers,” Margaret said. “We have things you just won’t find in every other bookstore, including classic and vintage titles, and we are always adding titles based on suggestions from our customers. We have a nice selection of books by local authors with whom we do book signings whenever possible.”
OtherWorlds has both new and old comics, with new titles arriving every Wednesday and on display by Thursday. This Saturday, Oct. 26, the Magles are proud to be participating in the national Halloween Comic Fest that Diamond Comic Distributors presents in collaboration with the leading comic book publishers. Customers will be able to receive free comic books and enter a national costume contest.
OtherWorlds Books & More, 41 N. 3rd Ave. in Sturgeon Bay’s Park Place Mall, is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 am – 8 pm; and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, 9 am – 4:30 pm.
