Overheard and Shout Outs: Feb. 24, 2017

OVERHEARD

Are there tid-bits of conversations you’ve heard while standing in line at the grocery store, serving a table, or walking down the sidewalk that make you smile, cringe or laugh out loud?

“Why are they friends now? Wasn’t it enough to just not be enemies?”

“It’s like the warm weather thawed out their stupid.”

“How can’t you follow him? He’s a hundred years old and talks about as fast as he walks.”

“Some guys are good in the elbows.”

“I watched True Life: I’m Losing My Hair on MTV – it was so sad.”

“Digital photography is just farting on buttons.”

“The best way to tell a woman’s age is not to.”

SHOUT OUTS

Is there someone or something that deserves a pat on the back or a slap on the wrist?

Appliance Doctor of Sturgeon Bay for service over and above the norm. Thank you, Steve! – Faye Blue

Shout-out to Mother Nature for the spring teaser! Now bring it back down to average February temperatures, please and thank you.

A slap on the wrist to people who don’t take “no” for an answer.

Sending praise to former President William Howard Taft who, 105 years ago this week, established the Green Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Migratory birds, monarchs and nature lovers still enjoy this beautiful area!

A shout-out to voters who take the time to cast their vote in primaries, and to municipalities that go out of their way to remind people of these oft forgotten voting opportunities!

A smack on the head to pet owners who don’t clean up after their dog takes a crap on a sidewalk, side of the road or someone’s lawn. You don’t deserve to own an animal, you animal!
