Overheards and Shout Outs: Jan. 15, 2016

OVERHEARD

Are there tid-bits of conversations you’ve heard while standing in line at the grocery store, serving a table, or walking down the sidewalk that make you smile, cringe or laugh out loud?

“Happy New Year! Yep, not even 24 hours into it and I think I already screwed it up.”

“We need less cowbell.”

“The secret ingredient is Obama’s tears.”

“Why would I be boogieing at temple?”

“Wow. You’re a nerd, geek and a dork!”

“I’m starting to think that this Powerball business is a government conspiracy to get the people to pay off the national debt.”

“It’s too bright, I can’t hear you.”

SHOUT OUTS

Is there someone or something that deserves a pat on the back or a slap on the wrist?

To the restaurants and businesses that offered free meals and discounts to veterans on Nov. 11.

To Shepherd of the Bay Church and Door Community Auditorium for hosting the USAF Brass Quintet concerts on Nov. 9 and 13.

To the brass quintet for giving such entertaining and educational performances.

Most of all, to our veterans who have served and sacrificed.

A shout out to bartender Janet at Husby’s for being such a positive “Packer backer” during the Jan. 10 Wild Card game against the Redskins.
