Pancake Breakfast to Benefit Door County Fire Departments

Improving communications infrastructure for emergency services has been a major focus nationwide in recent years, and in Door County it’s no different. Recently, the Ephraim Fire Department was awarded a Department of Homeland Security regional communications grant to improve radio communications countywide, and on Feb. 9, Gibraltar Fire & Rescue will host a pancake breakfast to raise funds to offset the local costs associated with the grant project.

The breakfast is part of the Fish Creek Winter Festival and will be held at the Gibraltar Fire Station, 3496 CTY F.

The breakfast will be from 7 am – noon. Pancakes, sausage, milk, coffee and juice will be served. Members from each department in Door County will be on hand to provide information about this communications project. After the pancake breakfast, firefighters will be available at the Fish Creek public beach, and throughout town.

The Sound of Sirens raffle tickets for a trip for two to Hawaii, sponsored by doorcountydailynews.com and Witt Peninsula Ford will be available at the breakfast, as well as at the festival, later in the day. Proceeds for this raffle will go towards the communications project.

There will also be a silent auction running throughout the day for a autographed and framed Brett Favre jersey, and an A.J. Hawk autographed football, sponsored by Bergstrom Automotive of Sturgeon Bay. The bidding will start at the fire station, and the items will then be at the public beach in downtown Fish Creek. Bidding will close at 4 pm. Successful bidders will be awarded immediately following the close of the auction. Proceeds for the silent auction will be used for the purchase of a four-wheel drive response vehicle for Gibraltar Fire & Rescue.
