Peninsula Music Festival Opens 57th Season August 4

The 2009 August Symphonic Season of the Peninsula Music Festival (PMF) begins August 4 and runs through August 22 with concerts every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8 pm. The concerts are held at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek.
Concerts for the 2009 PMF Season are as follows:
• Tuesday, August 4: Festival Opening: Fond Memories of Vienna, Lilya Zilberstein, piano
• Thursday, August 6: Beethoven’s Piano Concertos & Ballet I, Lilya Zilberstein, piano. Pre-concert talk from 6:30 – 7:15 pm, $5/talk, per person.
• Saturday, August 8: Unmistakably French, Stephen Alltop, organ
• Tuesday, August 11: From The Old Times, Andrew Sewell, guest conductor
• Thursday, August 13: Beethoven’s Piano Concertos & Ballet II, Stewart Goodyear, piano. Pre-concert talk from 6:30 – 7:15 pm, $5/talk, per person.
• Saturday, August 15: The Teacher and the Pupil, Stephen Alltop, conductor; Janine Hawley, mezzo-soprano; Steward Goodyear, piano and The Apollo Chorus of Chicago. Post Concert Encore: Question and Answer w/conductor and guest artist
• Tuesday, August 18: Russian Jubilee, Valentin Zhuk, violin
• Thursday, August 20: Beethoven’s Piano Concertos & Ballet III, William Wolfram, piano; Janine Hawley, mezzo-soprano. Pre-concert talk from 6:30 – 7:15 pm, $5/talk, per person.
• Saturday, August 22: Festival Finale: Tribute to Leonard Bernstein, James Ehnes, violin. Post Concert Encore: Question and Answer w/conductor and guest artist
Music Director and Conductor Victor Yampolsky is the conductor for the concerts unless specified otherwise.
Tickets for the festival range from $30 to $63 depending on the concert and the seat you choose. Discounts are available for children and students. Tickets can be ordered through PMF’s website, http://www.musicfestival.com, or by stopping in the PMF office at 3045 Cedar Street, Ephraim.
