The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks have awarded Peninsula State Park the 2016 Gold Seal Award for “Best Park/Trail to Visit in All Four Seasons” and “Best Park/Trail for Kids to Complete Explorer Books.”
The statewide Friends of Wisconsin State Parks organization runs the Gold Seal Award program each year to highlight Wisconsin’s parks, trails and forests in a number of different categories. Awards are presented at the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks annual summit, which will take place on Nov. 5 in Stevens Point. Several of the Friends of Peninsula State Park board members and Park Superintendent Kelli Bruns will be at the ceremony to receive the award.
The Explorer program is a free program that engages families in exploring, experiencing and enjoying the outdoors. Books can be picked up at State Park offices and recreation areas.
