Peninsula State Park Named Best Park in All Four Seasons

The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks have awarded Peninsula State Park the 2016 Gold Seal Award for “Best Park/Trail to Visit in All Four Seasons” and “Best Park/Trail for Kids to Complete Explorer Books.”

The statewide Friends of Wisconsin State Parks organization runs the Gold Seal Award program each year to highlight Wisconsin’s parks, trails and forests in a number of different categories. Awards are presented at the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks annual summit, which will take place on Nov. 5 in Stevens Point. Several of the Friends of Peninsula State Park board members and Park Superintendent Kelli Bruns will be at the ceremony to receive the award.

The Explorer program is a free program that engages families in exploring, experiencing and enjoying the outdoors. Books can be picked up at State Park offices and recreation areas.

The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks is a nonprofit organization that supports the work of 81 local Friends chapters around the state and the work that they do at the park, forest, trail or recreation area that they are associated with.

The Friends of Peninsula State Park is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assist with the preservation and goals of Peninsula State Park. The Friends provide volunteer services and financial support for the interpretive, educational, recreational and visitor service programs at Peninsula State Park. New members are always welcome. A membership form is available on the website or at the park office.
