Picnic and a Show

Woodwalk Concert Series welcomes Corky Siegel and Howard Levy to their stage on June 27. Opening the show at 7 pm is Jeanne Kuhns and George Sawyn.

Siegel has earned an international reputation as one of the world’s great blues harmonica masters. He is a composer, blues pianist, singer/songwriter, and winner of the Lila Wallace/Reader’s Digest/Meet the Composer’s national award for chamber music composition, the Illinois Arts Council Fellowship Award for Music Composition and the Chicago Lifetime Achievement Award.

Joining Siegel is Howard Levy, who is equally at home in jazz, classical music, rock, folk, Latin and world music, and brings a fresh lyrical approach to whatever he plays.

The Woodwalk Gallery and barn is home to the paintings of Margaret Lockwood and 40 or so other artists. Concertgoers are invited to come early and picnic. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $20 at the door. Beer, soda and snacks, including cupcakes from Cupcake Heaven, will be for sale.

The next concert in the series in Copperbox on July 4 at 6:30 pm. Dan Navarro will perform on July 18 at 7:30 pm.

For more than twenty-five years, Navarro has written, sung, played and acted his way through a varied career. 

As a songwriter for artists as diverse as Pat Benatar (“We Belong”), The Bangles, Jackson Browne, Keb’Mo’, Dave Edmunds, The Temptations and Dionne Warwick.
