Pioneers, Eagles Lose Regional Softball Title Games

The season ended Thursday for two Door County high school softball teams competing for a WIAA regional championship.

In Division 5, No. 3-seeded Sevastopol lost at No. 2-seeded Almond-Bancroft, 11-4, in a game where all the runs were scored in the first three innings.

Losing pitcher Addison Schauske allowed seven earned runs in an inning of work, giving up three hits and walking six while striking out two.

At the plate for the Pioneers, Bailey Rikkola batted 2-3 with a stolen base. Naomi Rikkola went 1-3, with a double and 2 RBI. Schauske hit 1-3, with a home run.

In Division 3, No. 4-seeded Southern Door lost at top-seeded New Holstein, 4-1.
