Psychotherapist to Lead Special Three-Day Class

Write On, Door County presents a special opportunity to encourage people to explore their future through writing with psychotherapist David Henderson. The three-day class is Sept. 19-21, 9 am – 4 pm, at Write On’s property in Juddville. Tuition for the class is $195, which includes lunch all three days.

The class will be held in the Coop, the former writing studio of the late Door County writer Norbert Blei. Since being relocated to the Write On property in August of 2014, the Coop has been an inspiration and motivation for dozens of writers. Due to the intimate setting of the Coop, the class is limited to 10 participants.

Participants in this experimental workshop will create and write stories about their potential futures, using elements from past and desired behavior. “Stories can shape our lives, depending on the arc of the story and our intended climax,” Henderson said. Using family stories, metaphors, personal spiritual beliefs, and patterns of behavior, participants will discover and write stories about their desired future. No previous writing experience is required.

Henderson is a psychotherapist, educator, and consultant. His interests are wide, with a focus on organizational culture, human conflict, education, and systems change. He currently teaches a graduate course in professional consulting for Alverno College in Milwaukee.
