Pulse Contributor Nabs Writing Honors

Gary Jones, a regular contributor to the Peninsula Pulse, was recognized in two categories of the 62nd Annual Jade Ring Creative Writing Contests, sponsored by the Wisconsin Regional Writers Association (WRWA).

In the Nonfiction Nostalgia category, Jones took second place for his piece entitled “Edna.” He also took second place in the Nonfiction Essay category for “Memories Forgotten.”

Each first place winner received a monetary award of $150; second place winners received $100; third place winners were awarded $80.

The WRWA created the Jade Ring Writing Contests for its members in 1949, presenting the awards during the organization’s first annual fall conference that year. Founded in 1948, the WRWA is a volunteer, nonprofit fellowship of writers, both hobbyist and professional, that supports all genres of the writing craft.

The WRWA offers spring and fall conferences, writing contests, and various services for its members.
