Gibraltar Area Schools has collaborated across grade levels and with community members to celebrate Earth Day. Students and environmental specialists plan to share earth friendly ideas at a free Earth Day Celebration April 23, 1 – 4 pm, at Door Community Auditorium and Gibraltar Mural Gym.

Kindergarten and fifth grade students have collaborated with community members to create handmade instruments as well as games from recycled items. Community members will be able to explore the recycled games in a hands-on carnival format as well as enjoy the students while they perform an original song with their recycled instruments.

During the Earth Day Fair, global issues will be presented by Geography/Contemporary Issues students from Gibraltar’s secondary school. Students from Gibraltar’s Functions, Statistics, and Trigonometry class will present Environmental Footprints.

In addition, community members that specialize in environmental issues will present information in the Door Community Auditorium as well as host a variety of informative booths on safeguarding our precious environment from invasive species.

The fair will culminate with the auctioning of a quilt made by Lizz Thomas’s kindergarten class. The proceeds of the auction will go to an earth friendly charity.
