Almost 500 bicyclists took to the back roads of Door County June 18 to support The Ridges Sanctuary in the 23rd annual Ride for Nature.

The ride featured routes of 15, 25, 50 and 100 miles on the peninsula’s scenic back roads. Fifty-three of the 473 riders took on the century distance, while 213 did the 50-mile route. All routes started and ended at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall, where riders enjoyed food, music, and Fat Tire Beer

Proceeds from the event support educational programs at the Ridges Sanctuary, a 1,600-acre preserve protecting forests and wetlands in Baileys Harbor, one of the most biologically diverse areas in Wisconsin.

The Peninsula Pacers event was presented by Door County Living magazine. Major sponsors included the Baileys Harbor Community Association, Baileys Harbor Cornerstone Pub, Baileys Harbor Yacht Club, Main Street Market, Ministry Door County Medical Center, and Nor Door Sport & Cyclery. Flanigan Distributing, Markey Springs, and True North Real Estate were supporting sponsors of the ride.
