Rosemaling Class Registrations Open

Registration for a three-day Norwegian Rosemaling workshop in early August, sponsored by the Sister Bay Historical Society and taught by instructor Loretta Paulman, is open until July 3.

Rosemaling is the traditional Norwegian craft of decorative painting on household objects and other materials. Paulman has studied at the Vesterheim Center in Decorah, Iowa. She will offer instruction on two styles of painting: Valdres and Telemark.

The classes are offered Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, August 9 – 11 from 9 am – 1 pm. Sessions will be held in the Koessl Barn on the grounds of the Corner of the Past farm museum, located at the intersection of Highway 57, Country Lane and Fieldcrest Road, 1-1/2 miles south of the Highway 42-57 intersection in Sister Bay.

The class will be open to beginning, intermediate, and advanced students. Enrollment is limited to 12 with a $30 fee, which will cover most materials. To register, call Historical Society curator Roberta Kutlik at 920.854.9242.
