Rotary Club Awards More Than $20,000 in Scholarships

This spring, the Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay awarded more than $20,000 in scholarships to 2016 graduates of Door County high schools. Seven students were awarded a Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay Service Above Self scholarship and two earned a Rising to the Challenge scholarship. Recipients were Emily Ash, Robert De Meuse, Levi Haight and Abby Thiede of Sturgeon Bay High School; Mackenzie Counard and Sarah Schlaefer of Southern Door School; Clare McInerney of Sevastopol School; and Olivia Potter and Christopher Lorona of Gibraltar School.

The club also awarded two Robert Muckian Service Above Self Scholarships to Sophie Kennedy of Southern Door High School and Alex Quinn from Sevastopol School. Both plan to attend NWTC in the fall.

In addition, 40 high school seniors were honored with a Rotary Vocational Award and 17 seniors were honored with a Rotary Service Above Self Award.
