Salaries Approved for Nasewaupee Fire Department

The Nasewaupee town board voted Sept. 21 to approve Nasewaupee Fire Rescue (NFR) salaries and revisit that salary structure in a year. Nasewaupee split off from the Southern Door Fire Department (SDFD) at the end of September to form its own department.

Bill Krueger, who chairs the town’s fire committee, said the committee recommended salaries similar to those being paid by the SDFD.

The NFR’s annual salaries include: fire chief, $7,500; assistant chief, $2,750; captain, $1,000; and program chair, $375.

Fire and emergency medical responder calls will be paid at a rate of $23 an hour, while those on probationary status will receive $17.25. Monthly meetings at the station will be paid at $23 an hour, which will go into a station fund. Committee meetings will pay $20 an hour, non-call times will pay $17.25 an hour and work nights will pay $15 an hour.

Training meetings required by Northeast Wisconsin Technical College will pay $25 an hour, while approved but not required training will pay $20 an hour.
