Sevastopol Launches First Fine Arts Night

Art and music will fill Sevastopol school’s hallways during the district’s inaugural Fine Arts Night on March 30.

The collection of decades’ worth of Sevastopol art students’ artworks that the district saved or purchased will be on display in the Pioneer Legacy Gallery courtesy of a project that high school art teacher Klayton Klindt completed last year.

The artistic efforts of current students will be on display or on stage 5:30-7:30 pm, thanks to the vision of art teacher Cara Krueger, who came up with the idea for this school-wide event, which is open to school families and the public. Her idea stemmed from a weekend-long arts event involving the school and the public when she was in New London, according to a school press release.

“I want to make sure every artist feels both seen as well as celebrated,” said Krueger, who wanted every elementary student to have up to three pieces of art on display.

Middle school and high school students’ art will be on display around the school, as well as set designs by the Destination Imagination team.

National Honor Society members will serve a pancake dinner in the cafeteria 4:30-7:30 pm, with proceeds supporting scholarships.

Presentations and performances taking place in the Carl Scholz Pioneer Room include forensics at 5:30 pm, the jazz band at 6 pm, choir at 6:30 pm, and solo and ensemble performances at 7 pm.
