Sevastopol Middle and High School Named National Blue Ribbon School

The U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan named Sevastopol Middle and High School as a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School. Sevastopol was recognized in the category of an Exemplary High Performing School as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests. The school is one of 335 public and private schools nationwide to receive the 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools distinction.

“Being recognized as a National Blue Ribbon school is a great honor for us as well as the broader Door County community. It recognizes Sevastopol’s tradition of teaching excellence, the efforts and commitment of our students, and the value placed on education by our families, community, and school board,” said Sevastopol Superintendent Dr. Linda Underwood.

State Superintendent Tony Evers nominated eight public schools in Wisconsin for the Blue Ribbon Schools Program earlier this year. The nominated schools then complete a rigorous application process through the U.S. Department of Education. Those selected receive the award at the Blue Ribbon School conference in Washington D.C. in November.
