Sister Bay Hosts Blossom Festival

Celebrate spring in Sister Bay at the annual Blossom Festival – the first festival of the season! Daffodils and violets are blooming, tulips are on their way, and the sweet smell of cherry blossoms are just a few weeks away.

Sister Bay kicks off the festival with face painting in the park at 10 am, with student artists from Gibraltar School. Children compete for prizes by dressing up, decorating bikes, trikes and hats in the Blossom theme and marching after the Boy Scout Color Guard in the Blossom Fest Children’s Parade at 11:30 am. Parade participants please meet in the parking lot between Sunset and Scandia Roads at 11 am. The parade runs down Scandia Dr. to Highway 42 and up to Mill Road into Waterfront Park. Cookies and juice will be provided for all parade participants who make it to the park!

The new Waterfront Park will host games and activities for all ages. Parade prizes will be awarded at noon, especially for Best Bike, Best Trike and Best Hat.

For lunch, enjoy a “Taste of Sister Bay” in the Village Hall. Select Sister Bay restaurants will sell tastes of their best menu items, or even something new that’s not on their menu, from noon – 2 pm.

Enjoy a taste of history and watch the Norwegian Dancers raise the Maypole at 2 pm and entertain the crowd with traditional Norwegian dances. Musical group Global Accord will entertain the tasters with Scandinavian-themed instrumentals during lunch. Feel free to join in the celebration! Children are encouraged to participate in a pre-Mother’s Day project in the Teen Center in the basement of the Village Hall.

The celebration of spring will end with a bonfire near the beach at dusk. Ben Larson and some Door County Idol contestants will play and sing, beginning at 7:30 pm.
