Sister Bay Nears Affordable Housing Approval

The Village of Sister Bay is nearing approval on a development that would bring affordable housing to the area.

Keith Garot, a De Pere developer, has been working on plans to build housing next to the Northern Door Children’s Center in Sister Bay for several years. Garot owns a tract of land between Highway 57, Koessel Lane, and Country Walk Road.

Garot will build two-story condominium style homes expected to retail in the $120,000 range. Construction would start with a single “eight-plex,” said village president Denise Bhirdo, with four upper and four lower units.

“These will be very nice units,” said Village Administrator Bob Kufrin. “Our Plan Commission is very excited about it.”

Kufrin said Garot has not yet put the final touches on the plan, and the village asked him to open up the project to local contractors. Garot would like to hear from local builders and suppliers.

“This project will help the village meet its goal of supplying and sustaining local employment while also providing the affordable housing we’ve sought for some time,” Kufrin said.
